About Trampolining

Our classes take place on full size club trampolines designed for gymnastics training. These are very different from garden trampolines and allow gymnasts to learn controlled jumps, shapes, landings and more advanced skills as they progress.

Our classes are suitable for complete beginners as well as gymnasts with previous experience.

Learning and Progression

Our trampolining classes follow an individual approach to learning, with coaches teaching skills appropriate to each gymnast’s ability and experience. Gymnasts progress at their own pace, meaning those in the same class may be working on different skills or proficiency levels.

Developing Trampolining Skills

Beginners learn basic jumping techniques, body shapes, controlled landings and safe stopping. As their skills develop, gymnasts progress to twists, different landing positions and combinations of movements.

More experienced gymnasts may work towards somersaults, twisting movements and complete routines, depending on their ability and progress.

At all levels, training includes floor exercises and physical conditioning to develop strength, flexibility and body control. These activities support skill development and help reduce the risk of injury.

Safety is an important part of every class. Gymnasts learn to use equipment safely and support others through spotting, which involves standing alongside the trampoline and being ready to assist if needed.

Where appropriate, gymnasts are expected to help with spotting under the guidance of a coach, with responsibilities suited to their age and ability. This is a normal part of training and helps everyone contribute to a safe environment.

Trampoline Proficiency Awards

We follow the British Gymnastics Trampoline Proficiency Awards, which provide a structured progression programme covering Levels 1 to 15.

Gymnasts work through the levels at their own pace, with each introducing new skills and techniques. Badges and certificates are available to purchase when an award is completed.

Competitions and Further Development

Recreational gymnasts can take part in our club competitions and certain regional competitions where eligible.

For those wishing to compete at a higher level, we offer invitation only Squad classes that run on weekday evenings.

Further information is available on our Squad & Competitions page below.
