Competitive Training
Our competitive pathway includes Trampoline Squad and Club Development for gymnastics and Acro. Each route has a different training commitment because gymnasts prepare for different types and levels of competition.

About Competitive Training
Competitive training is an additional pathway for gymnasts who are keen and able to progress further. Places are by invitation, with coaches considering each gymnast’s ability, readiness, goals and commitment.
Coaches will speak with gymnasts and their families when a competitive training route may be appropriate.
Trampoline Squad
The competitive pathway for trampoline gymnasts is called Trampoline Squad. Gymnasts train towards suitable local, regional, schools, English and national competitions, depending on their level and readiness.
The training commitment increases as gymnasts progress through the squad pathway. The minimum weekly commitments are:
Mini & Junior squads
A minimum of two hours’ training each week.
Development & Senior squads
A minimum of four hours’ training each week.
These minimum commitments apply to Trampoline Squad training.
Gymnastics and Acro Club Development
The competitive pathway for gymnastics and Acro is called Club Development. Gymnastics gymnasts may enter club, local and regional gymnastics competitions, while Acro gymnasts can prepare for suitable competitions available to their group.
Club Development gymnasts do not enter the same types or levels of competition as Trampoline Squad gymnasts. Their weekly training commitment is therefore different and will be explained by the coach for the relevant group.
What Coaches Look For
When identifying gymnasts for competitive training, coaches consider the whole gymnast and the support available around them.
- Motivation, discipline and positive behaviour.
- The physical attributes and foundation skills needed to progress safely.
- A desire to improve and compete when ready.
- Punctuality, regular attendance and a willingness to train throughout the term.
- Parents or carers who can support training, competition attendance and the associated fees.
Progress and Review
Coaches review gymnasts regularly to make sure they remain in the most appropriate group and continue to meet its requirements.
If a gymnast no longer wishes to compete or the current pathway is no longer suitable, the club will try to offer an appropriate alternative where space is available.
Competition Clothing
When a gymnast enters a competitive group they are given access to exclusive squad training clothing. Competitions may have their own requirements on top of our training kit.
General club clothing and ordering information are available on the club clothing page.
Training Times
Training times and commitments vary by discipline, group and competition level. Current members can find their class timetable in the Member Hub.
