Welfare & Safeguarding

Our approach to welfare is built on safeguarding, respect and positive behaviour. We want every gymnast to feel safe, supported and listened to, and every parent or carer to know how to raise a concern.

Your child’s welfare comes first

The welfare and safety of our gymnasts is our highest priority. We are committed to providing a safe, positive and inclusive environment for everyone involved in the club.

Our commitment

  • Providing a safe and welcoming environment for all gymnasts.
  • Promoting respect, inclusion and positive behaviour.
  • Listening to concerns and handling them seriously and appropriately.
  • Following recognised safeguarding standards and good practice.

Raising a concern

If you have a concern about welfare, safeguarding, behaviour or safety, please contact our welfare officers at welfare@heightsclub.co.uk. Both welfare officers receive messages sent to this address. Concerns will be treated sensitively, with information shared only where necessary to help keep someone safe.

If you believe a child or adult is in immediate danger, call 999. If there is no immediate danger but you are worried about a child, contact your local authority children’s social care team or the police on 101.

Our welfare officers

You can speak to either welfare officer if you have a question or concern.

British Gymnastics policies and procedures

Heights Club follows the safeguarding, welfare, conduct and complaints policies and procedures published by British Gymnastics.

Photography and video

Parents and guardians set photography and video permission for their child in our Class Manager software. Please keep this choice up to date. Photos or recordings must only be taken and shared when the relevant permission is in place, and must always be respectful and appropriate. If you are unsure whether photography or filming is permitted during a session or event, please speak to a coach or welfare officer before recording.

Online safety

We encourage parents and carers to support children and young people to use social media and online services safely. Gymnasts should never feel pressured to share personal information, images or videos, or to take part in inappropriate online communication.

Code of conduct

We expect gymnasts, parents and carers, coaches, volunteers and visitors to behave respectfully and help us maintain a safe, positive club environment. Our codes of conduct are available with the club policies above.
